So why should we be social when we’re at work?
Many of us use social platforms outside of work. While we may vary in how much pleasure we derive, most of us find some enjoyment in being appreciated by others’ love and likes for what we’ve shared – otherwise we wouldn’t do it. So it’s a two-way street: recognition becomes our intrinsic motivation to continue sharing, and the enjoyment we get from this our reward.
Applied to the workplace, having an environment that satisfies employees’ intrinsic motivations that give us internal rewards by moving or challenging us, helps drive performance, productivity and happiness at work. Good for you, good for your employer.
